Developmental, Family & Educational Support
Assisting in the healthy development of children, their families and schools.
CHILDSOLUTION, developmental & educational support program, offers children with movement, behavioral, and learning challenges the opportunity to be assessed and receive successful intervention therapy to help their development.
The assessment takes approximately 1 to 2 hours. Parents are welcome, and are asked to refrain from coaching, participating, encouraging their child during this time. We will schedule a follow-up session to discuss observations and form a treatment plan.
In the assessment, the child is observed performing a sequence of exercises and activities, which help illuminate the child’s development. The student’s functioning is evaluated from both a movement and a sensory perspective. Areas of challenge that may interfere with a child’s functioning in and out of school are identified. One-on-one sessions, homework, as well as other therapies, may be recommended.
The main stages of development, which are addressed in the assessment and the following sessions, include early movement patterns, body geography, dominance, spatial orientation, hand/eye coordination, and development of the senses of touch, movement, balance and life. When the body senses are not properly developed, the child may struggle with immature movement patterns, mid-line barriers, incomplete lateralization, and bilateral integration. The assessment also evaluates visual movement and memory, auditory processing and memory, fine and gross motor abilities, motor planning and postural control.
Following the assessment, the student may receive weekly one-on-one support sessions, or a home program with regular progress checks and follow ups.

The first seven years of a child’s life are primarily focused on the physical and sensory development of the child and lay the foundations for all later academic learning and behavior. Disruption of a child’s early development and initial sensory learning experiences can interfere with the subsequent development and learning as the child grows older.
Learning is a spontaneous process in most children that comes from curiosity, so a child who finds learning difficult or one who puts in extra effort much of the time may suffer with frustration. With strong foundations the learning process for the child will be easy and enjoyable.
With CHILDSOLUTION, Developmental & Educational Support, we work on strengthening the early developmental foundation; (touch, balance and self-sense), through movement and games, speech, painting, sensory integration and other therapeutic arts.
As these lower senses are more fully integrated, so will the program move with the child, continuing the solidifying process.
The more support from home and classroom, the more rapidly noticeable the improvements will be. Improvements can be seen as early as the following week to several months. We recommend an initial program of 8 to 12 weeks, depending on the child’s needs.
Children have a great deal to contend with, as do parents and teachers. Change may take time, patience and understanding. Remembering that the activities we do with our children are most effective if carried out in a light-hearted playful manner. “Stressed systems do not get stronger”. Judith Bluestone
One of the most valuable parts of childhood is PLAY. Free, with few props, plenty of time, minus electrical gadgets and screens.
Drinking water, limiting processed foods, being aware of the scents, sounds, colors, daily rhythms and activities we surround our sensitive children with, all help to bring calm and balance.
We all do the very best we can as parents and teachers, with constant encouragement from our children to meet them in different ways. This can often be quite challenging. There is so much to learn about our children and what we can do to help them live satisfying lives.
I look forward to working closely with you and your child.
Warmly,
Paula
